The Frictionary # 252

Here is another page taken from The Frictionary:

2436. All honor's wounds are self-inflicted. (Andrew Carnegie)

2437. We must love one another, yes, yes, that's all true enough, but nothing says we have to like each other. (Peter Devries)

2438. Man longs for the good, looks for better, finds the bad, and yields to it fearing worse. (François Gaston duc de Lévis)

2439. If we want things to stay as they are, things will have to change. (Giuseppe di Tomassi Lampedusa)

2440. Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash. (Leonard Cohen)

2441. Being human is to love man. Being wise is knowing him. (Lao Tzu)

2442. If the formula for water is H²O, is the formula for an ice cube H²O squared? (Lily Tomlin)

2443. Modesty is only pride's sense of decency. (Marcel Jouhandeau)

2444. Hope is not a strategy. (?)*
* This quote has been attributed to many authors, namely James Cameron, Julie Gerberding, Hillary Clinton, Rudy Giuliani, and Rick Page to name only a few.

2445. Failure is just another way to learn how to do something right. (Marian Wright Edelman)

Rejean,

I read your site with pleasure every Sunday. There is no one like a Frenchman to love a clever turn of phrase, and you have a nice ear for it. I invite you to check out my site some time.

smiles,

Thank you for your kind comment. My mother tongue is French, but I am a North American from Québec. There is definitely a huge difference in the way we think when compared to the French (France).
I visited your site. Interesting. You now have a new follower (through Google).

Best regards,

RL
